Picnic trials had been a VIRC tradition since 1965; they were run under the same CKC rules as a licensed field trial, however were not sanctioned by the CKC, but did count towards Club awards for annual hi-point in each category (Puppy, Junior, Qualifying, & Open) for members. Events were held monthly and it was a great opportunity to test your dogs in a trial-like environment.
Unfortunately, due to loss of grounds, conflicting busy schedules which lead to declining participation causing many cancellations, a tradition is taking a hiatus. The club executive brought forward to the recent AGM the concept of converting to organized training days. The membership present, voted to try the proposal for the 2023 season.
